Behind the Scenes

A technical sneak peak into how the lights work

Preparing the Lights Model

One of the first steps in animating the light show is to create a virtual model of the light display in a software called xLights. Each virtual prop must be laid out exactly matching the location and wiring of the real lights.

Controlling the Lights

The lights all connect to a controller box called a Falcon Controller which allows 16 strings of lights to be controlled. Each box can control up to 16,000 pixels. Yes, we have room to grow!

Building Props

Once the lights arrive, they must be tested for any defects.

After testing, the props can be built. Most of our props are made from readily available construction supplies like PVC pipe, metal conduit pipe, corrugated plastic, and treated lumber.

Sequencing

After the lights are set up, plugged in and tested, a sequence must be created to synchronize the lights to music. xLights has a number of premade effects to help make the light look miraculous!
